Bio: Julie Spencer Washington is Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing, Communications & Customer Experience Officer at Trinity Health, a $21B Catholic health care delivery system in the US.  Mrs. Washington is the strategic leader of marketing, communications, customer experience, and philanthropy.  She is a seasoned leader bringing experience and results in strategic marketing, brand building, demand creation, stakeholder engagement, and developing high performing teams. Her focus is on driving digital transformation and partnering to improve the care experience to be more integrated, inclusive and customer centric. Prior to joining Trinity Health, she served as Chief Marketing Officer for Champion Petfoods, Chief Marketing & Innovation Officer for Jamba Juice and was a marketing leader at Procter & Gamble, Nestle Purina, and Luxottica Retail. 

Mrs. Washington currently serves on the corporate board of Amyris, Inc.  Some of her accomplishments include selection as Becker’s Healthcare Outstanding Health System Customer Experience Officer List (2023, 2022), Savoy magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America (2022, 2020), Diversity Woman Media’s “The Elite 100” (2022), Millennium Alliance’s “Digital Healthcare Innovator of the Year” (2021), and one of Black Enterprise’s “Top Women Executives in Advertising & Marketing” (2016, 2013). 

She received a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University, a Master of Healthcare Leadership degree from Union Institute & University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and Psychology from Emory University, and an Executive in Education Certificate on Driving Digital and Social Strategy from Harvard University.  She received a Doctor of Human Letters: Honoris Causa from Union Institute & University.

Mrs. Washington is a new author of an inspirational book, Recipes for Joyous Living; a story about her mother’s faith and victory when faced with life’s challenges. She is married and has three children.
